The Ocean Partnership for Children philosophy embraces the “wraparound” concept
of services. Wraparound is a family centered, community-oriented, strengths-based,
highly individualized planning process aimed at helping people achieve
important outcomes by helping them meet their unmet needs both within
and outside of formal human services systems, while they remain in their
neighborhoods and homes, whenever possible.
The "wraparound" philosophy forms
the center of the Ocean Partnership for Children's core values. OPC
offers unconditional care to families, which
means that a plan of care will be changed and readdressed as often
as necessary to help a family succeed. These plans are flexibly funded
so that they can
be changed when needed and not according to artificial deadlines.
Wraparound is a model used in 35 locations
around the country and is now being implemented statewide for the first
time anywhere right
here in New
Jersey. The goal is to keep the treatment process team driven so
the entire Child and Family Team can support the family reach
their vision,
while helping
the child and family meet needs with natural supports instead of
services when possible. This is achieved through partnerships
and integration
with community resources, whereby families can be helped to achieve
independence
and the ability to link to their own services and community organizations
when needed.
